For about 360 years since its foundation in the Edo period (1603-1868), the Namiyoke Shrine has held a summer festival to ward off epidemics.
This year, the main festival is held once every three years. This year, however, the shrine will revive the old festival and on the June 12th (Sunday), a parade was held with a portable shrine and a large lion (male lion) on a float, which was pulled around the entire town of Tsukiji.
