One of Kabuki's "Kizewamono" popular Kyogen "Yowanasake Ukina no Yokogushi" is generally known as "Otomi Yosaburo" in the name of the characters.In particular, the song "Otomi-san", which was sung by the popular singer Hachiro Kasuga and became a big hit in 1954 (Showa 29), made the name known to people who did not watch Kabuki.

It is said that one of the protagonists, Mr. Otomi, lived in [Genji store] (Genjidana / Genyadana), but the model was near the current Ningyocho station [ It is a corner called [Genjiten].It is said that it became such a place name because it was the site of the mansion of a person named Genji Okamoto who was a doctor of the shogunate.
At that time, the Ningyocho area was an entertainment district where plays and banquets gathered, so it seems that many people related to entertainment lived there.It means that Mr. Tomi also lived in a corner of such a lively area.A monument is erected to show the location.
